For Your Entertainment

Ok, peeps...I'm going to share some guilty blogosphere pleasures of mine and hopefully they'll become some of yours too so we can all feel guilty together. I hate being alone in my guilt.

*First up... Confessions of a Mormon Bachelor Pad Full of wonderful drama to fill my mundane life with. Now this blog is my biggest guilty pleasure, the rest are just fun reads that I have no need to feel embarrassed about.

* Busy Bee Lauren She's so cute and makes me realize I need to go out and enjoy life a little more. Her Vampire Diaries recaps, Pocket Edward adventures, and her sarcasm are my favorites. Unfortunately, she's been having some lame commenters bashing her husband and mom, so she no longer allows people to comment. That was half the fun...reading comments from her witty followers.

* Improv Everywhere... wow, I love this site. These people are geniuses! They're a group of people in NY that do harmless pranks to the uptight city of NY. If you click on "missions" at the top of their page, it will pull up a list of all the pranks they've done and you can watch them. You may have heard of the now traditional prank that is sweeping the nation of people riding the subway or some other type of public transportation system without pants on. Improv Everywhere started it. Go spend countless hours'll love it.

* Color Me Katie... She's part of the Improv Everywhere group, but her site is more about her crazy cute ideas on how she can make the city and her home a little happier. She's so creative and fun. You can't help but smile at her stuff.

Now go enjoy!

36 weeks and 5 day appointment

Ok ya'll...mark it on your calendars, Nov. 16 is the BIG day! The Dr. asked me if I wanted to go into labor on my own or be induced. I laughed in her face and said "labor? who does that?" So, Nov. 16 I'm going in! I've already progressed more with this pregnancy than I did with Gavin, and that's not saying much. With Gavin, at 40 weeks I was only 1 cm dilated. Right now I'm 1.5 cm!! HOLLA! That's not much at all, but it's the most my body has ever done on it's own...good job, Tricia!

In my defense

I have been asked and then attacked on several occasions on my decision on whether I'm going to get the H1N1 vaccine. To me, this whole vaccination thing is just as personal of a decision as my stance on politics is. I hate discussing politics and hate discussing my views on the medical world. It's very personal to me. I don't judge other people on whether or not they've decided to get the vaccine, so why do people feel like they need to judge me on my choice? I have decided that Gavin and I are not getting the vaccine (I have told Tim that he can do whatever he feels he needs to do). I have been told that I am not being a good parent to my unborn baby, but I honestly believe that my choice to not get it is what's best for me and the baby. I have done a lot of thinking and as silly as this sounds, I've prayed a lot about it. I know that this flu is a lot worse for pregnant women and babies and it scares me. What also scares me is the fact that this vaccine has hardly been tested and long term side effects are not even known. For ME (so that includes the fetus too) I feel very strongly that it is better for me to go without the vaccine. Who knows...maybe me or the baby will react to the vaccine differently than the majority of the population and that's why the answers to my prayers are telling me "no". I don't know what the Lord knows, but I do know he knows what is best for me and the baby. For those who feel like they should get it...GOOD!! Go get it! Do what you feel is best concerning you and your family. I do not look down on those who got the vaccine or who are getting it. All I know is what pertains to my family and me. I also understand the risks of not getting the vaccine too, especially with having a newborn during the winter. We are setting up A LOT of extra, maybe ridiculous, precautions in our house and for those visiting. Because we are taking the risk of not getting vaccinated, we realize it's our duty as parents to then go above and beyond to protect our children. Please understand that we have thought about this long and hard. Please respect our decision, don't judge, and PLEASE do not call me a bad mom for not taking care of my unborn child. And that is all I ever want to say on the subject again.
P.S. Tim had an epiphany the other day. When he was down in the basement, he looked under the stairs where all the baby stuff is and remembered thinking "we are never going to find these clothes here", so he went digging through the stuff and in the farthest back corner, underneath all kinds of baby toys and stuff, he found the box of newborn clothes!! YAY!!

Dang Swine Flu

Because of this whole H1N1 ordeal, Gavin can't come to the hospital to see his new baby brother. :( We don't get to have that first family picture in the hospital bed. I'm so sad about that. I'm also not allowed to have more than two visitors at a time, and that includes Timmy. So if his family wants to come visit, he has to vacate. Lame!! Luckily I don't have anyone that would want to visit me that is under the age of 14, or they couldn't come either. I'm really frustrated with these new rules. If they didn't count the husband as a guest, it would be a lot better...that way I could have both of my parents AND Tim in the room after the baby is born. I'm switching Drs and hospitals right now! Well, maybe...probably not, but the thought has crossed my mind.

Where could ALL of my newborn sized clothing have gone? I have everything from 3 months and up, but seriously not a single piece of newborn clothing except the outfit I just bought to bring the baby home in. I have looked through every box in my house and nothing. All you new mommas out there, did you come and raid my house? I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

Finished Bedspread and NEW room!!

It's done!! YAY! AND I got the binding done today. I thought it would take me forever, but it only took a couple of hours! SWEET! Here's Gavin's new bed. We re-stained the bed a couple of weeks again.
Here's an up close of the quilt so you can see the quilting design on it.

Gavin kept telling us he was "a little bit tired" and would run to his new room and hop in the bed. This went on ALL day and up until he went to bed for real.
The new chest-of-drawers and book shelf. Gavin was SO excited to put his books on this shelf.
A view from the door way. Since this picture was taken, we got the drapes up. There's a toy box thingy behind his easel that you can't really see. Again, he just couldn't wait to load it up with all of his toys.
I'm glad he's adapted so well to his new room. Hopefully he stays excited about it.

The Pillow

I made Gavin's pillow yesterday. He loves it (well, atleast for right now. He'll probably hate it tomorrow). In a few minutes I'll go to the quilt shop to pick up his quilt. After I do the binding, it will be all set to go on his new bed! YAY!

Monday, October 12, 2009's off

to the quilter's. I'll pick up the quilted bedspread this Saturday and then all I have to do is the binding (the longest, most tedious part of the whole's all hand sewn...blah). I'm so excited to get this done for my Gavin. We got all the furniture for his NEW room and assembled it. Now we just need to move all the other furniture out of that room.
We grew a little pumpking patch in my mom's backyard this year. On Saturday, we went and picked out our pumpkins. I'll just let you look at my mom's post of it. Al of the pictures are on her camera:

Sneak Peek #2

I'm making Gavin a comforter for his new bed/bedroom. I made the quilt top in about 5ish hours...maybe a little less. The pattern is Turning Twenty...Again. All the Turning Twenty patterns use 20 fat quarters. It was super easy to cut out and put together. I still need to add a border on it (it will be brown) and then get the backing and batting and hopefully this Saturday it will be ready to take to the quilter's so she can do some fancy stuff for me. I'm also going to make Gavin a matching pillow with his name on it. I got the pattern off of I love the font for the letters. I'm excited to see the finished product!

Now...for all you baby mamma's that want something from Petunia Pickle Bottom for only a fraction of the price...Their Fall Outlet Sale starts October 13 and ends on the 21st. It's best if you preregister HERE AND it's also best if you do your shopping on the very first day right when the sale opens...that stuff goes quickly.

These are going to be made into something FABULOUS!
