Ideas?

Can anyone suggest a good book to me? Something with adventure and maybe a little love story or not, but it has to be exciting. I'm not a history or autobiography fan, but occasionally I do come across one of those that I really like, like The Glass Castle, Eat Pray Love, and Night.

I would suggest any book by Shannon Hale.

I kind of like mindless reading, the kind you can do on an airplane or laying out during the summer (since those are really the only times I read). With my traveling and beach time recently I've had a little time to read and have enjoyed the Shopaholic series and I just finished Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral which I really liked. I just started Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl (I'm only about a third of the way through but I'm liking it so far also). Mostly I'm just proud of myself for actually reading. I just went to Costco, read the backs of a couple books and these are what I came home with :) Good luck, let me know if you find anything else good.

If you like Gothic Romance - try "A Long Fatal Love Chase" by Louisa Mae Alcott. I really liked it. Do you like fantasy? You could try "Running with the Demon" by Terry Brooks. What else. . ? There's always NEW MOON!!! :) :) :) Let me know if you want to borrow a movie. There's only so many books i can read before I'm half bored to death! :) LOVE YA! NANIE

Loved Night and I haven't read the Glass Castle yet. You would really love, SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN. It is about ancient China and about this little girl growing up and the old traditions they carried out, foot binding, arranged marriage, ect. I REALLY loved it.

I second Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. There's also a series by Libba Bray that I really liked. The first book is called A Great and Terrible Beauty.

Oh! And I second the comment about Shannon Hale. The Goose Girl series is good and so is Book of a Thousand Days.

Enjoy!!

Austenland. It's the only book besides sisterhood of the traveling pants series that I've read since I was 13.

Oh I love posts like this...have you read city of bones series yet? I love austenland as well. And I love erec rex. I can't remember if you've read uglies series. And midnighter series by the same author. I also loved just one wish and my fair godmother by Janette rallison...but those are romantic comedies.

You've probably already read Angels and Demons... but I loved it and its the last book that I've read (besides The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which I am currently reading on my lunch break and I LOVE!).
