TV or Yoga?

Against my better judgement I signed up for a Gold's Gym membership. I had such a terrible experience with it last time that I swore 'never again'! But I did it anyways. It was either $90/month to take yoga classes at a specialized facility or it was $25/month to do it from Gold's Gym. Tim said we had to give up something in return, so we decided the only thing we could really give up was Dish Network... :(. As much as we love our TV shows, we figured we can just watch them on the internet a few days later, and the reality ones that we, well...more like I feel like I need to watch that day as opposed to a week later, we can watch at my dad's house OR we'll just have to watch them LIVE...YES, *gasp* LIVE...commercials and all! Overall, though, it will save us $40 a month and it will be a lot healthier.

Fun Date Night

Every third Friday of the month, a bunch of art galleries in Salt Lake City stay open late for the public. From 6-9 you can do a self guided tour of the art different art galleries. The best part about it is that most of the galleries have delicious refreshments; the second best thing is that it's FREE! Tim and I went with Charlotte and Tyler last Friday. It was our second time going (first time was when Tim and I first started dating and we went with Danny and Mary...good times!) and we loved it! I encourage everyone who can do it, to go next month. You can find all the information (dates, lists of participating galleries, addresses...everythin) HERE.

As asked

Here are some better pictures of the individual frabrics. (you can click on the pictures to enlarge them)

D) This picture shows the two different sides of the fabric. One side is greener than the other. I can't tell which is the right side or not.

Your Thoughts...

Tim's parents are coming out tomorrow and his mom is going to show me how to reupholster our kitchen chairs. We have 4 of these chairs:

As you can see, the rafia is falling apart on the seat. This is one of the better looking of the four. Here is the fabric that I have that I was thinking of using:
Honestly, what are your thoughts?

Working Out

I've only excerised three days so far, since I got the DVDs on Thursday and was out of town Saturday and Sunday, but I have noticed a few things.

1) I have a lot more energy during the day. Lately I've fallen into a slump. I haven't wanted to do anything except sit at home (literally, sit, I didn't even want to get up to cook, clean, play with Gavin...NOTHING). I was just so tired and maybe even a little on the depressed side. Just by getting up and exercising a little, I felt so much more energy and the desire to do other things than just sit came back pretty much instantly. It's crazy.

2) I am much more eager and motivated to do things.

3) My sleep is much more restful. I haven't really been able to tell if it helps me fall asleep better because of the crazy weekend I've had. Hopefully I'll be able to see some difference the next few nights.

4) The video is a lot easier than the first day I did it. It's still hard and will get me sweating, but I can hold the positions the entire time and I'm not shaking as bad. Maybe in a week or so I can bump it up to the next level!

5)I've remembered why I love yoga so much! Since I can't dance anymore, yoga really is the next best thing. I feel it working my body in similar ways that dance did, even though I'm practically stationary in yoga, there are still a lot of similarities. I used to take yoga classes and I absolutely loved them. I've been looking into local yoga classes. Hopefully I can find something good.

Fallon, NV

Tim's parents are out in Fallon, NV (a little town about an hour away from Reno) visiting Tim's mom's (Tammy) parents. I've only met that set of grandparents once and it was during a family reunion almost 2 years ago, so we decided at the last minute to go out and visit them again. I'm so glad we did. They are some amazing people. We left at 2:00 am Saturday morning and arrived a little before 8:00 am Fallon time. Right away we started working. Ralph and Cecile (the grandparents) have a bunch of chickens. Hawks were trying to get the chickens and other little birds were stealing the chicken food, so they wanted to build a chicken run. Tim got to drive a tractor, so he was a happy boy. Gavin LOVED chasing the chickens around. He found a stick and started poking all the chicken food and water. I asked what he was doing and he said he was cooking! Ron (Tim's dad) got in the tractor with Gavin. He let Gavin take basically complete control of the steering wheel while he made the tractor got forwards and in reverse. Gavin thought that he was the one driving it. He was soooo excited. It was really cute! Ron let him drive the tractor down the street to Uncle Brett's house so we could have a big bonfire.
Cecile is an amazing seamstress. She's has TONS of fabric...every kind you can think of. She's always making blankets and clothes. Since she has so much fabric and because of her old age, she allows whomever comes over that sews to take all they want. Last time we went over, she had a 3-car garage absolutely filled with fabric. Mostly upholstery type fabric. I took a ton of fabric home that time, so now I have fabric to reupholster my kitchen chairs. This time around, I got more cotton and silk type fabric. The silks are absolutely beautiful! Three of the kinds I got are actually used as wallpaper! I'm going to redo some of my lamp shades in them, though, and use them for other little things. Cecile actually knows one of my favorite fabric designers, Heather Bailey. When I was gathering fabric, I found some Heather Bailey fabric. Cecile saw it and tells me she knows this desiner. Turns out, Cecile and Ralph are long time friends of the Bailey family. Isaac Bailey married Heather. Cecile has known Isaac since he was 2. Isaac's dad served in the Bishopric with Ralph. They came to meet Heather when she married into the family. Small world! Anyway, I got a bunch of cute fabric and Cecile taught me how to make rosettes! I can't wait to start more projects!
It was a really short trip. We left the following morning so that we could get back in time for Tim to get some sleep for his busy day at work. We had a lot of fun, and I'm so glad for the opportunity to get to spend some time with Ralph and Cecile. The more and more I'm around Ralph, the more and more I realize that naming Gavin after him was the perfect thing. I can see SO much of Ralph in Gavin, it's crazy! Well, here are some more pictures from the trip.

(Left picture) Gavin asked to go look for snakes and lizards. Even though it was too cold for either to be out, Tim and Gavin went searching. (Right Picture) Ralph loves to make faces. He kept popping his dentures out and putting them over his top lip. Gavin loved it when he did this. He couldn't figure out how Great Grandpa did that. Gavin kept trying to do it with his own mouth.

The middle picture of fabric is an antinque fabric straight from Indonesia. Tim's Uncle Brad designs funiture and has it built out in Indonesia. He frequently takes trips out there, and one time that he went, he took Cecile. She bought a whole bunch of vintage fabrics out there. She said that these fabric designs are made from a big block of carved wood that is stamped onto the fabric. I absolutely LOVE this piece of fabric!

These are the silks that I got. The right picture is a rosette that she gave me. I'm excited to make some of my own.

Congrats, girl! Now I need to figure out what to make ya! If there's something in particular you want, let me know. Can you send me your address? I'm sorry to everyone else. If you didn't win, blame it on Gavin. He chose the name. But don't worry, there will be more giveaways in the future!!

***Tim and I just decided last second that we're going to go out to visit his parents and grandparents in little Fallon, NV this weekend. I will draw the winner on MONDAY when I get back! That gives all you who are too modest to put your name down some time to build up the courage!! ;) ***
In previous posts I have mentioned that I'm having problems sleeping at night and then keeping myself awake during the day. I've been trying different things to help me with this problem. I've decided to try working out for a change! It's a little hard to go to the clubhouse to run when I have Gavin all day. I've tried bringing him, and he kept pushing the the off button on the treadmill. (There's a little red button down by the power cord, and of course it was the first thing he found) So working out at the clubhouse with Gavin around doesn't work. By the time Tim comes home from work and we've eaten dinner, it's too close to bed time to be working out. After reading Whitney's blog about Jillian's (from The Biggest Loser) 30 Day Shred DVD and how hard it is, I decided to order it along with The Biggest Loser's Weight Loss Yoga. I've never been really big into workout videos, but I'm to the point of losing my mind if I don't get some sleep. Today, I got the dvds in the mail and tried the yoga one. I figured I could do cardio in the morning to help wake me up and then do yoga during Gavin's nap to help keep me awake. Honestly, after doing the yoga, I don't think I can do both in one day...yet. I'm so pathetically out of shape. I feel like I'm about to barf. Maybe I should have hydrated more before I tried it, or maybe I'm just flat out out of shape. The latter is probably more correct. I've taken yoga classes before, but dang Bob has to make it even more hard. If any of you watched last season of The Biggest Loser, you probably despise Heba and Vicky as much as I do, and unfortunately they are in this video. It's the only complaint I have about it. I hate looking at their gross faces. Heba looks like she's on the verge of tears the entire time and Vicky...well, she looks like herself...ugh. But other than that, it's great! I'll see if working out helps me at all tonight. Fingers crossed!

Also, in celebration of this being my 100th blog post (because we all know that this is really something to celebrate about) I will be doing a giveaway. If you leave a comment you will be put into the drawing. I'll make something awesome for whomever wins! SWEET, huh? Or maybe this is just a way of me finding something to do to fill up my boring days.

Nothing cool

I don't have anything good to post right now, just pictures of Gavin.

The other day I made some tortilla chips and we dipped them in hummus. Gavin would dip them and then only eat the tips off of the chips. He would then pile them up. When the pile got about 6 chips high, he called it a temple. Anything that is a pile or has a point is a temple.
I made him a little fort today and put on a movie on my laptop. He kept telling me to goaway and go cook. hm....

I am so sleepy, yet here I am blogging some more. I JUST finished a cake for my cousin's farewell tomorrow morning. He's going to Italy. His dad is grew up in Italy and his mom served her mission in Italy also, so it's really cool that he was called to serve there also. I'm still such a terrible procrastinator. I thought that it was just a bad school habit, but no, it carries on into everything I do. It's 1:00 AM Sunday morning, and I'm just finishing. I wasted my time making that quiet book all week instead of working on something that actually had a deadline. That's what I do best!
I wish I had good cake decorating writing like my sister-in-law, Taryn. She's got AWESOME handwriting such as in right HERE. Oh well! Even my regular handwriting is a little on the sloppy side. I used to practice my writing, trying to achieve what comes so naturally to most girls, but to no avail have I been able to achieve it. At least I know that it could be worse, like in THIS picture. The cake supposedly says, "Return With Honor", at least according to some translation site I found. We'll find out tomorrow if it's actually correct! Anyways, I think I need to go to bed now...seriously.
***Post Party...The translator was correct. I figured the only Italians there would be my aunt and uncle. I didn't realize my uncle had family that lived in the state. haha! So there were a handful of Italians there. Luckily the site I found gave me a correct translation.***

Tim and I just saw Confessions of a Shopaholic and it was sooooo good! It is so funny! Tim and I thought it was PG-13 and after the movie, we were talking about how we don't remember ANY sexual references or swear words and how it was the cleanest PG-13 movie we think we've ever seen, and then we saw on the ticket that it was PG. Makes a lot more sense now. The main actress, Isla Fisher, is AWESOME! She's so cute (that means funny too) and gorgeous. Everyone, go see it! RIGHT NOW! (except maybe you, Cody, I know how you feel about these movies. So, Courtney, you can just come with me again. I'll be the husband you never had.)

It's done!

I finally finished the quiet book! YAY! It took soooooo long! I seriously spent every single spare minute I had for the past 2 weeks. I've still got some final touches to do, like decorate the front cover, get a shoelace and find a plastic mirror for the "Y", but other than that, I'M DONE!! I bought the pattern HERE.

Now onto making new bedding for Gavin!

DMC Photography

Everyone, check out and The photographer, Mary Clark, is a good friend and ours and she does awesome work. She did some shots of Gavin a little over a year ago and I loved how she worked with us and how they all turned out. She has just gotten better (not saying that she was bad before) over time. She's a joy to be around. I HIGHLY recommend her. She does it all...weddings, bridals, family, individual portraits.

Party, anyone?

This sleeping stuff is getting out of hand. I've got a perpetual headache and I can barely keep my eyes open during the day. I am trying everything I can to keep myself awake during the day so that I can hopefully sleep better at night, but it doesn't seem to work. 9:00 rolls around and the anxiety creeps in. Instead of sleeping, I want to PARTY! Seriously! I'm ready to hit the clubs or maybe just Classic Skating...I'm ready to do anything to keep my from falling asleep even though I'm so tired. Anyone up for a midnight adventure? One thing I've been doing to keep me up during the day is I've been working on a quiet book. Hopefully I'll finish it this week. I've been working on it for the past 2 weeks. I'll post pictures once I'm done. I guess once that's done I'll start making Gavin some new bedding, make some curtains for my bedroom, paint the garage, finish the basement, build a house and do anything else I can possibly think of. Anyone need anything done for them? I'll clean your house or build you cake. Give me your list.
I found this picture on my phone. Gavin was around 7 or 8 months old. He was a HUGE baby! I love it!

Something's wrong with me. Someone, PLEASE help me! Seriously! I have the hardest time falling asleep every single night. Last night, it wasn't until 4 AM. Usually it's around 2ish. I'll take sleeping pills until my body gets used to it, then I get off of them for awhile while my body "reboots" itself and then I take them again and so on and so on. I'll be SO extremely tired, but I start to freak myself out right as I'm dozing off. I get really anxious for some reason. Falling asleep makes me anxious....weird. I'm so tired all of the time, but I can't seem to fall asleep. I've tried Ambien didn't work AT ALL. The hard part is, is that once I do fall asleep, no matter what time that is, I HAVE to be up bright and early for Gavin. AH! I swear I'm going to go insane. But until then, please enjoy this video:

Another website that is similar but sells solely baby stuff is So for everyone out there who likes cheap stuff, here ya go!

Nursing Cover Tutorial

Ok, so I'm not pregnant, but I still love to look at baby stuff. I found this tutorial on how to make your own nursing cover. It's soooo much cheaper than buying one. So, for all you nursing mothers or soon to be moms, check it out and go make your self one!

Warm on my feet? Please??

The other night we were at my parents' house. I brought my rice pack because Gavin HATES getting in his freezing cold carseat when he's half asleep. Before we left my parents' house, I warmed up the pack. When we put Gavin in his seat, I put the pack on him. When got back home, I warmed it up again so I could go heat my bed up. I went and put Gavin down to bed, and when I layed him down he asked for 'warm on my feet? Please?!" I told him it was too hot right now and he could have it in the morning. He started BAWLING! He was seriously sobbing because he wanted warm on his feet. So, now I'm making him a little rice pack so that he can go to bed with warm on his feet. I love this kid.
